Sloths Women's Crew Sydney Dragon Boat TEamThe Sloths is a competitive club that focuses on training and racing hard. Our Women's and Open's Crews are the current NSW State Champions. Our Open's Crew is the fastest crew in Australia, taking gold in the 200m and 500m and silver in the 2km categories at Australian Championships (2022 & 2023). Our Women's and Mixed Crews both earned bronze medals at AusChamps (2023).

Our club started as The Sloths Social and Sporting Club, formed by four university students after a trip to Hong Kong. In 1999 we officially began competing as The Sloths Dragon Boating Club. Since then the club has grown to be one of the largest and most successful premier dragon boating clubs in Australia with a diverse membership base.

The Sloths have competed at State, National and International levels. In 2004, The Sloths raced at IDBF Club Crew World Championships (CCWC) in Cape Town where the Women’s crew won gold in 200m and silver in 430m, and Mixed crew won silver in 430m. The Sloths also competed at CCWC in Toronto (2006) and Ravenna (2014). Our Women's and Open's crews both qualified for the upcoming CCWC in Ravenna (2024).

In addition to achieving numerous medals at State and National levels, The Sloths have provided many paddlers, coaches, captains, sweeps and managers for the NSW State Team and Australian ‘Auroras’ Team. Currently lead by Head Coach Christopher ‘Zeus’ Alexandrou and Assistant Coaches Peter Jolly, Emily Dugar and Harold Woods, The Sloths have continued to perform at a high level. During the recent IDBF World Championships in Thailand (2023), The Sloths had 21 athletes and 1 team manager represent Australia across the Under 24, Premier, Senior A, Senior B and Senior C divisions.
